When is National History Day?

Volunteer Opportunities

Based in the Washington, DC area, the National History Day organization is supported by volunteers across the country, including those who coordinate its state and local programs. Thousands support the programs by serving as contest judges, workshop presenters, mentors, and advisers to students and teachers.

Volunteer opportunities are available at the district, state and national levels. Volunteers support the NHD program in a variety of ways including mentoring students, serving as contest judges, presenting workshops, stuffing envelopes, selling t-shirts and fund raising. Contact your state coordinator to find out about opportunities at the district or state level. E-mail NHD at Info email to find out about opportunities in the national office and at the national contest.
