David De Boe National History Day Summer Internship Program
(Sponsored by: The Friends of National History Day)

Remember when you did History Day? Here's your chance to be back in action not as a student but as a STAFFER! Become an NHD intern.

The NHD internship is provided in memory of David DeBoe, an NHD state coordinator from Texas from 1980 to 1997. He was active in NHD at all levels and played a vital leadership role in the organization’s growth.

One of our interns described her experience this way: "A summer job where they pay me to do National History Day, and I thought, well, I've hit the end of the rainbow, it can't get much better than this. It got better. . . . I spent a week at the national contest in June, but . . . also a week researching at the National Archives and another week at a teaching institute on the American presidency. And all this just a metro ride away from our nation's capital."

Criteria
1. You must be a past NHD participant (at any level).
2. You must be enrolled in college and have completed at least two years.
3. You must be at least 18 years old.
4. Any major can apply.
5. The internship begins June 1st and ends June 27th. You must be able to commit to that time frame.

National History Day provides
1. Housing
2. Stipend

Housing is near the College Park Metro stop, with easy access to downtown Washington, DC. Interns usually spend their weekends sightseeing.

You must provide...
1. Transportation to and from Maryland.
2. Your own spending money to tour Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas.

Complete application is due by March 31, 2008. Applicants will be notified by April 18th. Send your completed application materials to:
